Over 600 people descended upon Huntington Village for the first annual Long Island Tech Day, hosted by LaunchPad Long Island. The event began with Congressmen Steve Israel and Tim Bishop announcing SAVE (Savings Accounts for a Variable Economy) for Small Businesses Act to allow start-ups like those at LI Tech Day to create tax-deferred savings accounts which was promoted by The Long Island Business Coalition and Dowling College among others.
Over 40 Tech companies exhibited their ventures during the “Expo” segment of the event. The attendees, a mixture of Tech companies, entrepreneurs, accountants, lawyers, investors, and many other people who are interested in Long Island’s Tech economy, interacted with exhibitors and did some first rate networking.
The centerpiece of the expo was the LaunchPad Huntington Initiative Map that showed the growing community of Tech companies and the available space for Tech businesses to locate in close proximity to LaunchPad Huntington in Huntington Village.
The end of the day included a fabulous Portuguese Barbecue by Fado, a local Huntington restaurant, and more networking into the evening.
Attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors alike are looking forward to the next Long Island Tech Day. Great job Andrew Hazen and the entire LaunchPad team for putting together such a memorable event.
